The third stage of the circular trail Kobarid‒Cividale del Friuli/Čedad‒Kobarid, which is part of the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic, is similar to the previous one, to the stage of Kolovrat‒Solarie/Solarje–Tribil Superiore/Gorenji Tarbij. The K-C 3 stage also runs almost entirely along the Alpe Adria Trail and the Sentiero Italia with minor detours so that the WW1 remains can also be seen.
From Tribil Superiore continue along the varied but not very demanding CAI 747 trail which runs away from the main road and crosses the smaller hamlets of Gnidovizza/Gnjiduca, Clinaz/ Klinac and Varch/Varh. The signposts take you to the church of St. John (San Giovanni), one of the many examples of sacred architecture of this area, which is also included in the trail of 44 votive churches of the Natisone valleys (44 Chiesette votive delle Valli del Natisone).
After walking for about an hour along the trail which runs parallel to the asphalt road you reach the second church, the church of St. Nicholas (San Nicolò), where you can see the remains of some tombstones to German soldiers who died in October 1917, during their advance to the west within the Twelfth Isonzo Battle.
After walking for about half an hour towards Castelmonte/Stara gora, which is the destination of this stage, the CAI 747 trail crosses the tarmac road and turns left downwards. Continue straight on towards the hamlet of Trivio Spik where you turn left at the crossroad. Continue to the road on the left which takes you to Mt. Spig/Špik, where the Italian defence line and positions facing the Judrio/Idrija valley below have recently been cleared. After seeing the defence positions, head back to the main road and continue in the direction of Castelmonte. Just under the monastery, considered one of the most remarkable monasteries in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, you again join the trail that brings you to the destination of this stage.
