Did you know that the Monument of Peace Cerje hides a rich archaic symbolism of our ancestors? And that the staircase of the Monument of Peace Cerje symbolises the tree of life that leads you to enlightenment and at the same time works as a time machine?
From one floor to another, the exhibitions displayed over seven floors take you through Slovenia’s history, from the Freising Manuscripts to the Slovene independence, and offer glorious views which bear the message of peace to all sides of the sky.

When you enter the Monument of Peace, a starry sky opens above you that shines on the summer and winter solstice. Your journey through Slovenian history starts under the shining stars. While walking through time, you will travel to the famous Freising Manuscripts, the first preserved manuscripts written in the Slovenian language. A large part of the exhibition is dedicated to World War I, which greatly impacted Slovenia and Kras. The Isonzo Front that ran from the highest peaks of the Julian Alps, across Kras, and towards the sea is presented in the grand canvas by Rudi Španzel, The Dance of Life and Death, displayed on the ground floor of the Monument of Peace. You will learn about the story of the anti-fascist movement TIGR and the hard times of the local population during both World Wars and after the Second World War. The Slovenian story is completed with the independence and a bright future, rounded up by the exhibitions of selected works of famous Slovenian artists. Breath-taking views of the landscape stretch from the covered platform.
