A themed educational trail leads to the fortification on hill Primož. The trail connects the Park of Military History, the former military range on hill Kota 110 and hill Primož (718 m). The fort is part of the Alpine Wall (Vallo Alpino) – a fortification system built by the Italian Army along its entire land border during the First and the Second World War. The mighty underground fort on hill Primož was the command centre for the group of fortifications positioned around Pivka. The system of trenches and underground tunnels attests until this day to the strong presence of the Italian Army in this area.
You can explore the area around the fort on your own and you will find five information boards along the trail. A guide can take you inside the underground fort where you can explore 500 metres of underground tunnels and the quarters of the command fort. The hike to the hill Primož and the fort will take you about 40 minutes.
If you decide to walk the entire Circular Trail of Military History, it will take you about 4 hours. The trail connects the Park of Military History, the underground Alpine Wall fort on hill Primož, the village of Šilentabor above Zagorje and the village of Narin.
