Austro-German Tombs in the Municipal Cemetery Resiutta

The cemetery was built in the days right after the retreat of the Italian Army from Kobarid (the town is in Italy known as Caporetto and in German speaking areas as Karfreit) when the Austro-Hungarian and German soldiers advanced through Resia Valley towards the Friuli lowlands. Here, the Austro-German soldiers lie buried who fell during the assault. The tombs are extremely simple: blocks of white stone with engraved name, army corps details and date of death of each soldier.
