In his exhibition at the Pri stari dami Museum in Predjama, collector Marko Bajc presents a very diverse and important part of the heritage of World War I, more precisely of the Isonzo Front and its rear areas. Personal items, photographs, letters of soldiers who wrote to their dear ones, medals, war equipment and arms are displayed. Especially interesting are the reconstructions of the living quarters, a smithy with genuine items of that period, and a trench.
The exhibition opens with a presentation of two opposite forces, represented by Svetozar Boroević, the commander of the Austro-Hungarian Army, and Luigi Cadorna, the commander of the Italian Army on the Isonzo Front. The museum collection was formed in the honour of all the fallen soldiers on the banks of Soča (Isonzo) and in the reminder that world peace has to be fought for.
