In the ethnographic museum “Cemout chi erin” (The Way We Were) of the small municipality of Forni Avoltri, a permanent exibition is mounted on the Great War in the valley Alta Val Degano and the nearby Mts. Navagiust, Avanza, Chiadenis and the Volaia/Wolaya and Cacciatore passes. Of particular interest is a collection of postcards and photographs featuring the life of soldiers and the place of Forni Avoltri during the war. In addition, a reconstruction of the tunnel with bunks which was discovered in 2007 on Mt. Navagiust can also be seen in the museum.
From the A23 Palmanova–Tarvisio/Trbiž/Tarvis motorway, take the Carnia exit. Drive along the SS52 state road to Tolmezzo. Continue from Tolmezzo along the SR355 regional road towards Sappada. The Museum is located in the centre of Forni Avoltri.
