The monument is located near the civil cemetery in San Volfango/Štuoblank in the Natisone Valleys. In this cemetery, which dates back to 1917 and was originally used as a war cemetery, five hundred soldiers were buried, including Riccardo Giusto. In 1923 all the mortal remains were transferred to the Ossuary temple in Udine and the cemetery turned into a civil cemetery.
Close to the cemetery, a monument, dedicated to the casualties of all wars, was built by the locals. The staircase leads to the pyramid-shaped monument with an iron cross on the top.
