The Trieste Marine Aquarium dates back to 1933 and is one of the oldest aquariums in the world. It is housed in the former fish market. Here, one can observe and learn about local marine wildlife. Besides Adriatic fauna in the aquarium, there are also reptile enclosures with amphibians, lizards and local and exotic snakes.
