Inside the monumental civil cemetery in Portogruaro stands an imposing charnel house, which contains remains of more than 700 Italian, Austro-Hungarian and Polish soldiers who died in combats that tragically struck the area of Portogruaro during World War I. The charnel house has recently been restored on the initiative by the Municipality of Portogruaro on the occasion of World War I Centenary commemorations.
