There were three military cemeteries at Klavže during the fights on the Isonzo Front. Mainly those soldiers were buried here who had died in the nearby field hospital (Feldspital 15/3). Today, there are two cemeteries here with 1,220 buried Austro-Hungarian soldiers. Two monuments have been preserved.

Access and useful info

Access

Military cemeteries Klavže I & II lie on a clearing on the southern slope of the village of Klavže. The easiest access to the military cemetery is from Bača pri Modreju in the direction towards Klavže. In the centre of the village, turn right and drive over the Bača River and through the railway underpass towards the hamlet Rakovec. After about 600 metres you will see a signpost on the right side of the road, directing to the military cemetery. A path leads you through a forest to the clearing with the two fenced cemeteries.
