Cheese Museum Kobarid is housed in one of the buildings of Mlekarna Planika dairy factory. In its permanent exhibition, From Mountain to Planika, it presents the heritage of high mountain farming and the development of cheese making which formed the foundation for the present dairy factory. An alpine cottage with all its cheese making tools, which are still used on some of the mountain pastures, is presented. Through a short documentary, visitors can acquaint themselves with how milk products are made on the mountain pastures and in the dairy factory. With prior reservations, the dairy also organises cheese and other dairy product tastings and a genuine Alpine Farmers’ lunch for closed groups.
