Ajdovski gradec is a hill east of Bohinjska Bistrica. Traces of settlement from the Iron Age to the late Roman times have been found on it. Houses and smithies, surrounded by stone walls, stood on artificially levelled terraces. Related to Ajdovski gradec is the epic poem ‘Krst pri Savici’ (Baptism at the Savica Waterfall) by the greatest Slovenian poet, France Prešeren.
