On that last Saturday of September 2025, a sense of quiet tension and great anticipation filled the air ahead of the lecture by the renowned historian Alessandro Barbero.
At the invitation of the partners of the Beyond Walk of Peace project (Interreg Italy–Slovenia), the cultural event in Kobarid attracted more than 1,300 visitors from Slovenia, the cross-border region, and even more distant parts of Italy. Barbero, who lectures and fills halls across Europe, wished to speak about the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo precisely where it took place – in Kobarid.
Together with the introductory remarks by Janko Petrovec, the gathered audience listened attentively for an hour and a half to the words of the Italian historian.
