Soča Outdoor Festival: Hey ho down the Walk of Peace we go alongside the banks of Soča and Tolminka

The Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic, a long-distance hiking trail which connects the World War I heritage points in the extremely picturesque landscape, passes also through the town of Tolmin and its surroundings. Explore this small section of the Walk of Peace with an experienced local guide. You will have the chance to see the inside of the German charnel house, the final resting place of the German soldiers who fell in the Twelfth Isonzo Battle. A visit to the old town square will take you even further back in time, to a period of Tolmin’s history which is just as turbulent as the history of the entire Upper Soča Valley, which was a crossroad of different merchant routes at the turn of the centuries. The walk will also take you to the Austro-Hungarian cemetery in Loče, where 300 Austro-Hungarian soldiers of different nationalities were laid to rest. The easy walk will finish on the banks of the Tolminka River, where you will learn more about the Soča River marble trout, the fish farm and fishing on Soča and its tributaries.
