Trails

Much of this World War I heritage is in remote border areas, set within beautiful, diverse landscapes and natural environments. This common heritage, memories and landscape invite us to be connected through local, national, cross-border, and transnational trails. The trails are intended for hikers and cyclists of all abilities—from families with children to experienced mountaineers—as well as descendants of those affected by World War I and researchers interested in history. They vary in length and level of difficulty. Together, these thematic trails and the rich heritage, they offer an authentic experience, a sense of inner peace in a beautiful natural setting, and a deeper understanding of the events and history of World War I.
