Yorkshire Trench & Dug out

World War I Remains

In 1992, the British Yorkshire Trench was unearthed in Boezinge. Today, 70 metres of restored trenches and dugout entrances are open to the public. Original A-frames remain, while duckboards and sandbags have been replaced. Information boards detail the site’s history and construction. The well-preserved dugout contrasts with the reconstructed trenches above, some recently rebuilt (2023), others in less pristine condition. Information on the site is available at the In Flanders Fields Museum and the city of Ypres.
