World War I Thematic Park, Saisera/Zajzera

Outdoor Museum

During World War I the entire area of Tarvisio/Trbiž/Tarvis, including Val Saisera/Zajzera and Valbruna/Ovčja vas, belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In the heart of Val Saisera, the Austro-Hungarian Army built two defence lines as a protection against a possible Italian attack from the valley of Val Dogna.
The outdoor museum was opened in 2012 and shows what is left of the defence line (Vordere Saisera Linie). You can navigate through the thematic park by following 3 rings (green, red, blue) based on the chosen difficulty. The outdoor museum offers quite a lot of interesting points to see: trench Vordere Saisera Linie, Sasso Bucato, Villa Anna, U-Kaverne and MG-Kaverne, Fuss Nabois and Geschütz Kaverne.

The park is designed to be accessible, with paved paths and accessible facilities. Exhibits are regularly maintained, and ongoing research ensures the park accurately reflects the historical context.
