War Cemetery No. 290 in Charzewice

Military Cemetery

Cemetery No. 290 in Charzewice commemorates a brutal 1914 battle. Here are buried 161 Austro-Hungarian and Russian soldiers, including Poles forced to fight on opposing sides. A stone obelisk marks the site of fierce fighting, where the Dunajec hills became a battlefield. Initially buried in mass graves, the fallen were reinterred in this cemetery after the 1915 Limanowa victory. The site is maintained by the Małopolska Voivodeship.
