The Carnic Zone during the Great War 1915–1918 Museum (La Zona Carnia nella Grande Guerra 1915‒1918) in Timau exhibits many remains and other items found on the surrounding elevations. It focuses specifically on the role of the Carnic region during World War I. Exhibits highlight the unique challenges and experiences of soldiers fighting in this mountainous terrain. Part of it is dedicated to Carnic porters. The museum is managed by the Associazione Amici delle Alpi Carniche and the Municipality of Paluzza.
In addition to various items, weapons, military equipment, photographs, there are also an alcohol barrel, stoves used by soldiers for warming themselves, documents on surgical operations, medicines, surgical instruments, stretchers and prosthetic limbs.
A visit to the museum can serve as a starting point for visits to the nearby outdoor museums Pal Piccolo/Kleiner Pal and Freikofel, located above the Passo di Monte Croce Carnico/Plöckenpass.
The museum is accessible to most visitors, with ramps and accessible restrooms. The collection is well-maintained, with ongoing preservation efforts to protect these historical artifacts.
