Italian Charnel House Asiago

Charnel House

The Italian Charnel House Asiago (also known as the Leiten Shrine) is a significant site of remembrance, honoring the soldiers who fought and died on the Asiago Plateau during World War I. It’s a place of reflection and mourning, with accessible areas and restored sections that preserve its historical and architectural integrity.
The charnel house was designed by the architect Orfeo Rossato and was completed in 1936.
The site has some infrastructural problems; restoration work promoted by national institutions is starting. Local authorities and the Region are in charge of the promotion.
