Historial de la Grande Guerre – Péronne (Péronne – Museum of the Great War)

Located east of the Somme, the site of the 1916 battle, the Péronne and Thiepval museums are managed by the Historial association, while the buildings and collections belong to the Département de la Somme. The Thiepval Center (opened in 2014) is near the Thiepval Memorial. Its museum (opened in 2016) features a panoramic battlefield mural by Joe Sacco.
Historial doesn’t manage outdoor WW1 sites but offers battlefield tours. Cemeteries and memorials are managed by other institutions (mainly CWGC). The Historial collection contains around 60,000 items.
