Great War Museum “Forte Tre Sassi”

Fort/Battery

The Austro-Hungarian “Forte Tre Sassi”, built before WW1, was hardly bombed by Italians at the beginning of the war. It has been restored to its wartime appearance, completed with artillery and exhibits on its history.
The fort is accessible by a paved road, with parking nearby.
Restoration has focused on preserving its architectural features and defensive systems. In 2003, a private collection was brought in the fortress and was opened to the public.
The Regole d’Ampezzo, the Municipality of Cortina d’Ampezzo and its Tourist Office, the Province of Belluno and the Veneto Region are in charge of the promotion.
