The Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth war cemetery, holds 11,961 WW1 burials. Located near Passendale, it commemorates nearly 35,000 missing UK and New Zealand servicemen who died in the Ypres Salient after 16 August 1917. The cemetery incorporates three German bunkers and features a Cross of Sacrifice, a Stone of Remembrance and a memorial wall. Designed by Herbert Baker, it follows CWGC standards.
The Ypres tourist office and the Passchendaele Museum promote the site. Westtoer, a regional agency, also supports tourism in the area.
