Pursuing Walter Schaumannʼs vision, numerous heritage trails dedicated to World War I sites have been established in recent years across regions stretching from Lombardy to Slovenia. What was once the front line, marked by battlefields and military positions, has become a landscape of remembrance, where the value of peace can be appreciated.
Through the Interreg Central Europe project “GOV4PeaCE”, project partners from Lombardy, Trentino, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Slovenia have joined forces to promote these trails collectively, with the long-term goal of connecting them into a single, extensive trail.
