Memorial ceremonies are held in the square in front of the Obelisk dedicated to the heroes of the Austro-Hungarian Army’s 31st Infantry Regiment from Veszprém, as well as to those who lost their lives during the Second World War.
The monument is located in Vörösmarty Square in the city centre of Veszprém. Designed by Ferenc Malasits and inaugurated in 1939, it consists of a sandstone obelisk topped by a Turul bird holding a sword in its beak. Red stone memorial plaques and inscriptions are placed around the monument’s surface.
On the upper section of the obelisk, the years 1914–1918 are inscribed in memory of the soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian 31st Infantry Regiment from Veszprém who served and died during the First World War.
