Avstro-ogrski vojaki so zato\u010di\u0161\u010de iskali povsod, tudi pod zemljo. Mnoge naravne kra\u0161ke jame so preuredili v oskrbovalna bivali\u0161\u010da in shrambe. Imeli so poseben gradbeni oddelek, ki ga je vodil <strong>speleolog Alois Peter Bock<\/strong>. V <strong>Krompirjevi jami\/Kartoffelh\u00f6hle<\/strong>, kamor so se spu\u0161\u010dali po ja\u0161ku s klineno lestvijo, so vojaki uredili <strong>prostor za hranjenje pridelkov in krompirja<\/strong>; od tod ime jame. Kasneje je bil v jamo narejen nov vhod, ki se uporablja \u0161e danes. <strong>V zimskih mesecih 1916\/1917<\/strong> so <strong>tu<\/strong> lahko <strong>nastanili kar 500 vojakov in 8 \u010dastnikov<\/strong>. V notranjosti so namestili <strong>pograde v ve\u010d nadstropjih<\/strong> in lesene kabine za \u010dastnike.
