Zgrajen je bil v sklopu <strong>\u017eelezni\u0161ke povezave Srednja Evropa\u2013Trst\/Trieste<\/strong> in je eden od 65 mostov in viaduktov na <strong>bohinjski progi<\/strong>, <strong>zgrajeni med leti 1900 in 1906<\/strong>. Za solkanski most so bili usodni dogodki na <strong>so\u0161ki fronti<\/strong>, saj je bil <strong>v bojih za Gorico avgusta 1916 razstreljen njegov glavni lok<\/strong>. Za\u010dasna jeklena konstrukcija, ki je bila postavljena leta 1918, je omogo\u010dala promet \u010dezenj vse do leta <strong>1927<\/strong>, ko so <strong>italijanske dr\u017eavne \u017eeleznice<\/strong>, ki so takrat upravljale z mostom, <strong>zaklju\u010dile obnovo loka v rezanem kamnu<\/strong>.
