Zaradi na\u010drtovanja atentata na cesarja Franca Jo\u017eefa leta 1882 so ga avstrijske oblasti aretirale in po podanem priznanju obsodile na smrt z obe\u0161anjem.<br \/>\nV avstro-ogrskih \u010dasih je na <strong>Kasarni\u0161kem trgu <\/strong>(Kasernenplatz\/Piazza della Caserma), kot se je trg takrat imenoval, stala velika voja\u0161nica. Ko je pri\u0161el leta 1918 Trst\/Trieste pod Kraljevino Italijo, pa je na mestu kasarne v 30. in 40. letih zrasla serija stavb v racionalisti\u010dnem slogu.
