Zgrajen je bil verjetno <strong>v 11.\u00a0stoletju<\/strong>, a je bil tekom \u010dasa ve\u010dkrat po\u0161kodovan, uni\u010den in ponovno sezidan. <strong>Med prvo svetovno vojno so ga obstreljevali<\/strong>. Dana\u0161njo podobo je dobil po obnovitvenih delih leta\u00a01937.<br \/>\nO\u010darljiv grad je zgrajen v obliki peterokotnika okrog <strong>Dvori\u0161\u010da Lanzi (Cortile dei Lanzi)<\/strong>, od koder se pride do <strong>male grofovske pala\u010de (Palazzetto dei Conti)<\/strong> iz 13. stoletja. Lastniki gradu so se ve\u010dkrat zamenjali (<strong>Gori\u0161ki grofje, odvetniki oglejske cerkve, Habsbur\u017eani, Bene\u010dani, Francozi<\/strong>). Danes je v gradu <strong>Muzej srednjega veka (Museo del Medioevo goriziano)<\/strong>.
