Trg je bil <strong>urejen ob vstopu Slovenije v Evropsko unijo 1. maja 2004<\/strong>. Krasi ga <strong>mozaik nove Evrope<\/strong>, ki ga je zasnoval umetnik <strong>Franko Vecchiet<\/strong>. Obmo\u010dje okrog \u017eelezni\u0161ke postaje je urejal \u017ee <strong>Maks Fabiani<\/strong>, na podlagi njegove zapu\u0161\u010dine pa je arhitekturno re\u0161itev ureditve trga prispeval <strong>Romano Schnabl<\/strong>.<br \/>\nZ odprtjem bohinjske \u017eeleznice, ki je Trst\/Trieste povezala s srednjo Evropo, je bila v Gorici zgrajena \u017eelezni\u0161ka postaja. Po prvi svetovni vojni je trg spadal pod Italijo in \u017eelezni\u0161ka postaja je s tem izgubila svojo vlogo. <strong>Od leta 1947 naprej<\/strong> je zelena ograja na trgu predstavljala <strong>dr\u017eavno mejo med Italijo in Jugoslavijo<\/strong>. Trg je postal kraj fizi\u010dne in simbolne povezave Gorice z Novo Gorico. <strong>Po 50 letih je bila leta 2004 ograja odstranjena<\/strong>.
