Tu je bil v za\u010detku 16. stoletja skrajni rob Bene\u0161ke republike, tu je potekala meja med de\u017eelama Gori\u0161ko in Kranjsko, pozneje pa med Italijo in Kraljevino SHS oziroma Jugoslavijo.
