Za delo na gradbi\u0161\u010du so pripeljali <strong>12.000 ruskih ujetnikov<\/strong>, zajetih na vzhodni fronti, ki so z ne\u010dlove\u0161kimi napori gradili cesto. Nastanjeni so bili v preprostih barakah, slabo hranjeni in oble\u010deni, mnogi med njimi so zaradi naporov in bolezni umrli. Cesta je rabila <strong>za oskrbovanje avstro-ogrskih enot na so\u0161ki fronti ter odva\u017eanje ranjencev s fronte<\/strong>. <strong>Prevozna je bila \u017ee konec leta 1915<\/strong>. Zaradi obilice snega se je <strong>marca 1916 s pobo\u010dij Mojstrovke spro\u017eil plaz<\/strong>, ki je pod seboj pokopal ve\u010d sto graditeljev. V spomin na trpljenje in \u0161tevilne umrle sotrpine so ruski ujetniki zgradili leseno kapelico. Danes je to pravoslavno sveti\u0161\u010de obnovljeno in znano pod imenom <strong>Ruska kapela<\/strong>.
