Kraj je poznan predvsem po rudarski dejavnosti, ki pa je zaradi ekonomske situacije v drugi polovici <strong>20. stoletja<\/strong> vse bolj stagnirala in <strong>ob koncu stoletja<\/strong> <strong>dokon\u010dno<\/strong> povzro\u010dila <strong>zaprtje rudnika<\/strong>. To je posledi\u010dno povzro\u010dilo veliko zmanj\u0161anje \u0161tevila prebivalcev Rablja in \u0161ir\u0161e okolice.<br \/>\nV stavbi nekdanje osnovne \u0161ole se nahaja Voja\u0161ko-zgodovinski muzej Julijskih Alp<strong> (Museo storico militare delle Alpi Giulie<\/strong>), kjer je prikazana <strong>zgodovina od vdorov barbarskih ljudstev do druge svetovne vojne na tem obmo\u010dju<\/strong>.
