Danes je tu urejen Park miru, v \u010dasu prve svetovne vojne pa je bil iz vseh strani prevrtan in prepreden z rovi, jarki in kavernami. Zaradi strate\u0161ke lege nad reko So\u010do je bil najprej pomembno avstro-ogrsko mosti\u0161\u010de na desnem bregu, v \u0161esti so\u0161ki bitki avgusta 1916 pa ga je skupaj z Gorico\/Gorizia zavzela italijanska vojska. Nagrada za vzpon je razgled, ki se\u017ee od Svete Gore, Vipavske doline in Brd, Krasa in Furlanske ni\u017eine do Julijskih Alp.
