Battery Vettor Pisani Museum

Fort/Battery

The battery, named after the Venetian commander who defeated the Genoese fleet back in 1380 during the War of Chioggia, is a special military structure within the Italian system of fortifications.
This coastal battery played a crucial role in defending Venice during World War I. Today, it stands as a monument to the conflict, offering visitors a glimpse into the strategic importance of the area and the lives of the soldiers stationed there. It is part of a territorial valorisation heritage project.
The concrete building consists of a central body on a single level, with two terraced turrets and two side wings, where the devices for telemetry and observation were installed. With the support from the Regione del Veneto, the battery has been restored by the Municipality and is now accessible to public and also equipped with some specific didactic devices.
The site is generally accessible, with some limitations in certain areas. Restoration efforts have preserved the battery’s historical integrity.
Promotion is led by the Municipality of Cavallino Treporti and its Tourist Offices.
