Nella media et\u00e0 del bronzo sulla sua cima fu eretto un castelliere. Dall\u2019autunno del 1916 alla primavera del 1917 Quota 144 divenne l\u2019obiettivo della Terza Armata italiana (7<sup>a<\/sup> \u201210<sup>a<\/sup> Battaglia dell\u2019Isonzo). Le unit\u00e0 italiane la occuparono solo durante la 10<sup>a<\/sup> offensiva (12 maggio\u20135 giugno 1917).
