{"id":8288,"date":"2021-05-17T08:49:50","date_gmt":"2021-05-17T08:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thewalkofpeace.com\/location\/vrsic-mountain-pass\/"},"modified":"2023-07-12T09:07:23","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T09:07:23","slug":"vrsic-mountain-pass","status":"publish","type":"location","link":"https:\/\/www.thewalkofpeace.com\/it\/locations\/vrsic-mountain-pass\/","title":{"rendered":"Passo Vr\u0161i\u010d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>La strada<\/strong> che da Kranjska Gora attraverso <strong>il Vr\u0161i\u010d (1611 m)<\/strong> giunge a Trenta <strong>venne iniziata all\u2019inizio del maggio 1915,<\/strong> quando era gi\u00e0 chiaro che l\u2019Italia avrebbe dichiarato guerra agli austro-ungarici. Per i lavori vennero usati <strong>12.000 prigionieri russi<\/strong>, catturati sul fronte orientale, che realizzarono la strada con fatiche inumane. Vivevano in semplici baracche, mal nutriti e vestiti, molti di essi non sopravvissero alla fatica e alle malattie<strong>. La strada serviva per il mantenimento delle unit\u00e0 austro-ungariche sul fronte dell\u2019Isonzo e per il trasporto dei feriti dal fronte. Fu percorribile gi\u00e0 alla fine del 1915<\/strong>. L\u2019abbondanza di neve provoc\u00f2, nel <strong>marzo 1916<\/strong>, dal versante del Mojstrovka, <strong>una valanga<\/strong> che seppell\u00ec oltre cento persone al lavoro. Per ricordare la sofferenza e la morte dei compagni di sventura, i prigionieri russi costruirono una chiesetta in legno. Oggi questo luogo di culto ortodosso, ristrutturato, \u00e8 noto come <strong>Ruska kapela (Cappella russa)<\/strong>.
