Durante la Grande Guerra (maggio 1915\u2012ottobre 1917) la zona non fu interessata da combattimenti, sebbene il comando della \u201cZona Carnia\u201d impieg\u00f2 lavoratori e truppe tecniche per la costruzione di strade ed elementi di viabilit\u00e0, che per la verit\u00e0 presso Forcella Clautana e sull\u2019itinerario Longarone\u2012Claut\u2012Meduno erano gi\u00e0 state edificate dai militari prima del conflitto (1910\u20121913).
