Gli italiani distrussero il ponte nel paese di Ponte San Quirino\/Muost per ritardare l\u2019avanzata delle truppe imperiali. <strong>L\u2019attacco al monte Purgessimo inizi\u00f2 alle prime ore del mattino del 27 ottobre 1917<\/strong>. Da Azzida\/A\u017ela e San Pietro al Natisone\/\u0160pietar, che erano stati occupati il 26 ottobre, l\u2019esercito imperiale inizi\u00f2 a sparare all\u2019impazzata verso il monte difeso dalla Brigata Ferrara. Il bombardamento dur\u00f2 qualche ora e nel frattempo le pattuglie tedesche provarono ad avanzare fino ai piedi del monte. Occuparono il paese di Ponte San Quirino, da dove potevano sparare in modo pi\u00f9 efficace sui reparti italiani.
