Oggi qui \u00e8 stato creato un Parco della pace, in un luogo che nel periodo della Grande Guerra era perforato e ricoperto di cunicoli, trincee e caverne. Per la sua posizione strategica sul fiume So\u010da (Isonzo), \u00e8 stato dapprima un\u2019importante testa di ponte austro-ungarica sulla sponda destra, nella Sesta Battaglia dell\u02bcIsonzo nell\u2019agosto del 1916 \u00e8 stato occupato, assieme a Gorizia\/Gorica, dall\u2019esercito italiano. A ricompensarvi per la salita c\u2019\u00e8 un panorama che giunge fino a Sveta Gora (Monte Santo), alla valle del Vipava (Vipacco) e a Brda (il Collio sloveno), al Kras e alla pianura friulana sino alle Alpi Giulie.
